The ARDAGH HOTEL & RESTAURANT

“A home from home”

Celebrating 40 years of welcoming guests as friends, the Ardagh is now in the third generation of the Bauvet/Berings family. Old fashioned rest, relaxation & the best food Connemara has to offer. One of the last small, family run hotels in Ireland. What was originally a quaint fishing lodge is now the 20 bedrooms of a four star establishment. The Ardagh has been lovingly restored into an unfussy, intimate hotel with individually styled guest rooms. Set on 6 acres of food and wild floral gardens offering both views of Connemara’s land and seascapes.

Location

Connemara,
West of Ireland

The Ardagh Hotel & Restaurant can be the halfway rest point on the Wild Atlantic Way route.
The secret escape away from the city or a romantic treat.
On the waters edge of Ardbear bay in Clifden.

the perfect
hideaway for...

The Explorer

Placing a flag at the top of Ben Baun, the highest mountain of the Twelve Bens range. Roaring through the twists & the turns of the old Roundstone bog road on an electric bike*. Searching for the elusive bearded mountain goat in the Connemara national park. Or riding the crests of the Atlantic waves out to Inish Bofin island. (*Ask at reception for details)

The Cruiser

Soft strolls on the white sands of Gurteen & Dogs Bay beach. Watching the boats come and go from Roundstone or Cleggan harbour with a warm bowl of soup. Or soaking up some history at the Derrigimlagh Bog site & Kylemore Abbey.

The Chiller

Curling up with your favourite book in front of the fire. Unwinding in a bath full of bubbles, maybe even sipping on a glass of bubbly too. Or absorbing a couple of cuddles with Bruce the family dog.

The Gastronome

Tasting the Connemara kitchen with the loving flavours portrayed by Monique Bauvet. Savouring an elegant wine paring alongside a good laugh with Stéphane Bauvet in the restaurant. Or learning about the gratifying journey from seed to plate with Peter Stanley in the gardens.
